Lovely romance with a solid story

Tanya is a very interesting, attractive and successful woman with a tiny little flaw: she is quite rude to others without meaning it. Sophie is entirely the opposite: a girl who believes kindness is a must. They have an unfortunate first encounter that leaves Sophie confused by Tanya's behavior. As they keep on running into each other, though, Sophie gets to know Tanya and the immediate attraction she felt towards her (in spite of her manners), starts to grow. We know Tanya from the previous installment (This London Love), and we understand she has got some issues, so I was thrilled to see how she gives her self permission to be who she really is, and believe me, you'll love this character. She has got a past and a complicated one. We see her fight her demons in this book, a process which is far more interesting than we could have imagined. Sophie has got her very own battles, too, so: what are this women gonna do to get over their issues and embrace love? I'm a sucker for Clare's books, as they make me laugh, think and move me to tears: all in one!! You don't need to read the other two books in the series (like another customer said), so if this is the first one you want to read, be my guest!! It will make you love Clare just like I do :) A girl called London will give you a good reason to smile ;)

Another Hit Romance

This book is book three in Lydon's London Romance series, but it could be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoy Lydon's work and I am at a point where I confidently purchase her books as they come out because I know I won't be disappointed. This book is about the unlikely pairing of two women who under normal circumstances would not consider the other as girlfriend material. Tanya is a high-power lawyer with a cute bossy streak and Sophie is growing her dog walking business while she figures out what she really wants out of life. Neither one of these women has been very successful when it comes to long-term relationships which is what drives this romance. They each need to learn how to reconcile their painful pasts in order to make room for a possible happy future as a couple. The only reason that this novel didn't get five stars from me is because Tanya was in "This London Love" and she played "the villain". It was hard for me to get past that, but Lydon does a very good job providing Tanya with a vivid backstory which helps make her more sympathetic. Lydon uses a lot of beautiful imagery in this novel which highlights her growth as an author. Each of her novels gets better and better. With lines like this: "She flicked her eyes to Sophie and their gaze met, held in place like a sudden shard of a new reality, a moment in time." I couldn't help but be captivated by the chemistry between Tanya and Sophie. The interesting thing about their relationship is that it can be just as in sync as it can be out of sync. This is a nice addition to the London Romance series and definitely worth the read.

Such a fun time

This story was very entertaining and it kept my attention. I am not a young thing however probably have read a minimum of 1000+ lesbian novels so always enjoy a story that a bit different with no sleeping, formatting, etc errors. That is sometimes difficult to find these days. This isn't a heavy story however the characters are multi-dimensional and if the reader just relaxes and enjoys the novel from across the big sea, she will have a nice evening with this book. I did. Sweet London story

I really enjoyed this book for many reasons one of them being the setting of London which I'm really looking forward to going back to for a visit. The story itself is quite good as well. It's understandable that Tanya would be somewhat cool and aloof considering the way she grew up but that someone as open and adorable as Sophie (London) would be able to crack the cold exterior. Of course sometimes you wish you could knock Tanya's head against a wall when she's being obstinate but that's where the compassion for her upbringing comes in. Overall an entertaining and enjoyable book. I love Clare's books and I wasn't disappointed with this one!

A great read if you are looking for something light but ...

A great read if you are looking for something light but engaging and contemporary. As always, Clare Lydon writes characters that are funny but also have depth and growth. This is kind of a thawing the ice queen story. If you've read the previous books in the London series, you'll recognize Tanya from This London Love - and she wasn't a favorite character. I love when authors give side characters their own story and we get to see the "whys" of their flaws and witness their growth into a lovable character. That said, this novel stands on its own just fine (you don't need to have read the earlier books in the series). I appreciate that our main characters feel more like regular people than many other lesfic characters. No crazy jobs or wealth. Overall, I definitely recommend A Girl Called London. Enjoy!

Nice

I enjoyed reading this love story. Tanya was very different and nicer than she was in the previous story. Tanya and Sophie were so much in love and great together. Both had baggage from the past and worked through it. The story is well written with great love scenes. Very nice ending.

This was a great addition to her writting

This was a great addition to her writting. A funny story with a lot of heart. I had not read the other related books and never felt lost so this does work as a standalone if needed. However, I did go out and buy the other books because this one was so terrific. So if you can go ahead and buy them all, but if you can't trust me you will enjoy this sweet and funny story.

Loved it!

I loved this book just like I loved the other two books in this series! Tanya's character was definitely redeem from the previous novel with Meg and Kate. Sophie's character was definitely very endearing! The supporting cast was equally charming! All in all, a very good book!

A great summer read

I've read Clare's work before and this latest book doesn't disappoint. A great story - Tanya and Sophie make a great couple and their romance is uplifting despite the obstacles. Tanya's mother is a piece of work! Clare's writing just gets better with every book, I can't recommend this romance enough!

Again a great read!

I really enjoyed reading this one and I loved that characters from previous books show up. Again there was humor and the romance was great. I’m not ready to let the London girls go so I’m glad that I’ve one more to go. This series is definitely worth reading.
